SHORT STORIES WITH MORAL LESSONS
A little bird was flying south for the Winter. It was
so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.
While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped
some dung on him.
As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung,
he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out!
He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to
sing for joy.
A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to
investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of
cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.
Morals of the story:
(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
(3) And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

Values
What are Values?
-Values are ideals that guide or qualify your personal
conduct and interaction with others.
-They help you to distinguish what is right from what
is wrong and inform you on how you can conduct your life in a meaningful way.

How to Teach Moral Values
Activities in Schools: Five Useful Things for The Classrooms
How to Teach Moral
Values Activities in Teaching Moral Values in Schools
I mentioned
that it was just as important for students to learn moral values in school as
it was for them to learn the three Rs. The moral values referred to in that hub
included unconditional love and kindness, honesty, hard work, respect
for others, co-operation, compassion, and forgiveness. In this hub I
will go one step further and suggest five useful classroom activities as ways
of imparting moral values to students.

TRANSITION IDEAS FOR PRE-K TO GRADE 1
There
may be times when children need to move somewhere as a group, such as down a
hall to a cafeteria or to the playground. The logistics of a line seems to
create opportunities for children to talk with one another and poke and push
the student in front of them. The longer they wait before the line actually
moves out the door, the more apt they are to get into mischief.

Irregular
Verb Activity Ideas
Beginner to lower-intermediate
students of English as a second language, or ESL students, commonly have
difficulty correctly recognizing and forming irregular verbs. This is mainly
because there is no easy-to-use formula to construct their past tenses and past
participle forms. Consequently, any lower-level English language course should
contain a range of activities that help students to memorize and produce these
verbs.
Storyboards for Teaching
Storyboards are a teaching
technique that teachers can employ to help students understand the content of a
story. There are several ways to use storyboards in teaching. For example, you
can use them to illustrate a story or have your students make their own
storyboards to help them understand the subject or book you are teaching.
School Storyboard Project Ideas
Storyboards are helpful teaching aids
used in many different grade levels to assist kids in organizing and presenting
their ideas. Storyboards help kids break up big ideas into manageable parts
that they can then work with in other ways, such as making them into a written
narrative. Almost any idea can be presented in storyboard fashion, but some
projects are better suited for a storyboard than others.
What is Reading Fluency?
Fluency is the most
overlooked of the five essential aspects of reading. Because it is usually
measured through oral reading, many do not consider it important to silent,
independent reading. However, fluency plays an important role in a reader’s
ability to comprehend texts.

Tutoring Strategies for
Preschool and Kindergarten
By: Derry Koralek and Ray Collins
Almost everything young children do in the preschool and kindergarten
years supports their emerging language and literacy skills. When children have
access to reading and writing materials at home and at their child care or Head
Start program, they will incorporate literacy in their play.
Strategies for Reading
& Understanding Poetry
1. Read Poem Aloud
You
hear the sounds of a poem by reading it aloud.
As you read, remember that the end of a line is not necessarily the end
of a thought. Read to the end
punctuation to understand the complete thought.
Listen to the rhyme, rhythm, and sounds of the words as you read.

CENTERS
What is a Learning Center?
A learning center is a small area within the classroom where students
work alone or interact with others, using instructional materials to explore
one or more subject areas. It is a place where a variety of activities
introduce, reinforce, and/or extend learning, often without the assistance
of the classroom teacher.
How to Run Learning Center Activities in a Kindergarten Classroom?
Learning center activities allow kindergarten students to practice their skills while learning to work independently and in groups. For a teacher, the most difficult part of learning centers can be figuring out how to coordinate them. If done well, most of the center activities should run smoothly with little adult direction; plus, they should allow a teacher the opportunity use center time for small group instruction.
